The building itself dates from the early 1800s and is renowned for its remarkable Victorian shopfront, a rare architectural feature that has become a landmark in Dublin’s historic core. The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage has described the frontage as one of the finest surviving examples of its kind in the city.
The building at 26 Clare Street is a former house of early nineteenth-century construction, enhanced by a particularly fine Victorian bowed timber shopfront, embellished with decorative iron cresting and foliate carved spandrels.
