Flu Vaccine

The flu is a contagious viral infection that spreads every winter. Getting the flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself against flu.

The best time to get the flu vaccine is before the flu season starts. The vaccine is available from October to the end of April each year.

Who can get the flu vaccine for free?

The flu vaccine is free through the HSE if you are in one of these groups:

• aged 60 and older
• aged 2 to 17
• a healthcare worker
• pregnant
• living in a nursing home or other long-term care facility
• in regular contact with pigs, poultry or waterfowl
• someone with a health condition that puts you at higher risk of flu
• a carer or living with someone who has a health condition that puts them at higher risk of flu

Please check with our Pharmacists in Price’s Medical Hall for eligibility. If you are not eligible for a free flu vaccine, you can still protect yourself by booking a private flu vaccine (€35 fee applies).

COVID 19 Booster

COVID-19 vaccination is safe and effective. It gives you the best protection against serious COVID-19 illness.

You can get a COVID-19 vaccine if you are over 18 and want one. You do not have to be in the groups a vaccine is recommended for.

The HSE recommends to get a COVID 19 booster if you:

– are age 60 years and older

– live in a long-term care facility and are age 18 or older

– have a weak immune system

– have a health condition that puts you at a higher risk of serious illness from Covid 19.
